Dutch specialty coffee runs on light roasts
The Netherlands punches well above its size in specialty coffee. Independent roasters, Lot Sixty One, White Label Coffee, Bocca Coffee, Friedhats, have spent the last decade pulling the national palate away from dark, bitter commodity espresso toward light-to-medium roasts that lead with fruit, acidity and origin character.
Right now, Amsterdam is the only Dutch city in our database, with 77 venues across 14 neighbourhoods averaging a score of 7. The three venues sitting at 9.5, Sango Specialty Coffee, Scandinavian Embassy and Dak Coffee Roasters, all sit inside that one city. Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague have real scenes too, but they are not yet in our listings.
How much does coffee cost in the Netherlands?
