Cafecito Meent roasts its own beans in the Netherlands and pours precision V60s inside a stark, scandi-japanese room on Meent.

✦ The verdict
“Rotterdam has no shortage of espresso bars, but few roast their own beans on Dutch soil and post the extraction recipe on the wall for you to copy. The V60 rotation moves through Ethiopia and Rwanda lots with real clarity, and the ube matcha cloud is worth the detour even if you came for filter. Bench seating keeps things brisk, which suits the Meent shopping crowd fine.”

White walls, steel shelving, bags of house-roasted beans stacked like inventory in a design store. Cafecito Meent doesn't do warmth through clutter. It does it through precision, and that's a different kind of comfort if you're the sort of person who wants to see the extraction numbers before you order.
The roastery is the real story here. Cafecito roasts everything in-house in the Netherlands, working single origins from Ethiopia, Rwanda, Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil and Peru, and the shop doubles as a retail counter for the beans themselves. There's a wall behind the bar listing dose, yield and time for the current lineup, which is either a nice gesture or a genuine dial-in guide depending on how seriously you take your home setup. Buy a bag of the washed Ethiopia, take a photo of the recipe, go replicate it at home with your own Hario or Chemex, both of which they also sell.
On the espresso side, the shots are clean and the milk work is tight, though the real draw for regulars seems to be the rotating manual brew and the matcha program. The Ube Matcha Cloud, ceremonial grade matcha topped with purple sweet potato cold foam, sounds like a novelty item and drinks like one that's been tested more than once. The Banana Cloud Latte plays the same trick with whipped banana foam over a double shot. Neither is subtle, but neither pretends to be a straight flat white either.
There's no kitchen to speak of, no hot lunch, just banana bread and the kind of light bites that don't compete with the coffee for attention. Seating is bench-style and compact, fine for a flat white and twenty minutes of email, not built for a laptop marathon. Come early on a weekday if you want the room to yourself, because Meent fills up with boutique shoppers by mid-morning and the coffee bar becomes part of the street's foot traffic rather than a refuge from it.
It's a tight, disciplined space that knows exactly what it is: a roaster's showroom that happens to also serve some of the more considered filter coffee in Laurenskwartier.
