✦ The verdict
“Multi-roaster cafes often mean mediocrity by committee, but New Jozi treats the format as a tasting menu instead. The EK43 and twin Eureka Zeus grinders get properly reset between Shokunin and Schot, and the El Renacer flat white shows the kind of dial-in that single-roaster shops rarely bother chasing for a guest bean. The bean wall isn't decoration, ask and they'll grind whatever's on it.”

New York meets Johannesburg on Jonker Fransstraat, and the founders have built something genuinely unusual for Rotterdam: a bar with no house roast. Instead you get Manhattan Coffee Roasters, Schot, Shokunin, Mellow, Grounded Craft and Ripsnorter all pulling shots and pouring filter side by side, which means the espresso you order in October might taste nothing like the one you had in August.
The Aerocano is the drink to try first if you haven't had one. Chilled espresso, steam-wand aerated into something between a nitro cold brew and a nitro coffee, velvety rather than fizzy. It's a genuinely different format, not a gimmick dressed up as one. The El Renacer Double Flat White pairs Shokunin's limited-run espresso with Milbok double milk, and it's the closest thing the menu has to a signature, dense, sweet, built for people who want their milk drink to still taste like coffee.
What makes the format work is the equipment behind it. A La Marzocco Linea PB anchors espresso, and the EK43 alongside twin Eureka Zeus grinders means the team isn't compromising grind quality just to rotate through six different roasters' beans. Filter runs through V60, batch brew and cold brew, so the Ethiopian and Guatemalan single origins on the wall aren't just retail decoration, you can ask for anything displayed to be brewed fresh at the bar.
The room itself leans into deep blue accents and communal tables, with an upstairs mezzanine built specifically for laptop sessions during the week, power outlets included. Weekends shift the energy toward brunch: pancake stacks, gourmet burgers, savory bowls, vegan and vegetarian options covered. It's ambitious for a venue that only opened in late 2025, and the ambition mostly holds up. Just don't turn up on a Thursday, the doors stay shut.
