✦ The verdict
“Oude Noorden has no shortage of places to eat, but De Brunch Club draws a steady crowd for a reason. The cold brew is the strongest coffee argument here, the brunch menu is broad and diet-inclusive, and on a sunny morning the canal terrace makes the wait feel like part of the experience.”

Brunch first, coffee second, canal always
De Brunch Club does not pretend to be a specialty coffee destination. What it is, clearly and confidently, is one of Oude Noorden's better places to spend a slow morning with food that actually justifies the trip.
Owner Ivan de Groot opened the place in 2019, taking over a former vegan-only spot and deliberately broadening the menu to pull in a wider crowd. That instinct reads in the room. On any given morning you'll find solo diners working through eggs and a flat white, groups negotiating over the DBC Brunch Platter, and the occasional family occupying a corner table longer than anyone planned.
The coffee is espresso-based, the cold brew is consistently recommended, and the milk alternatives cover the usual bases: oat, soy, almond. There is no roaster named on the menu, no single origin on the filter bar, no Synesso pulling shots in the corner. If you arrive calibrated for that kind of experience, you will leave mildly disappointed. If you arrive hungry and ready to sit by the water, you will leave happy.
The food is the honest differentiator here. The Eggs Norwegian and Buckwheat Pancakes move fast on weekends. The Acai Smoothie Bowl photographs well and tastes like it was made with care. The Green Goddess smoothie is worth ordering alongside whatever coffee you choose, not instead of it. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are distributed across the menu rather than siloed into a separate section, which makes ordering easier for groups with mixed dietary needs.
The canal terrace is the room's best feature. On a clear Rotterdam morning, it earns its reputation. Inside, the space has the casual urban texture you'd expect from a neighbourhood that has been quietly improving for a decade: exposed brick, natural light, enough noise to feel alive without making conversation difficult.
This is a 4.5-star brunch spot that happens to serve decent coffee, not a coffee bar that happens to do food. If that distinction matters to you, it is worth knowing before you go.
