✦ The verdict
“Most plant-based cafes lean hard on the food and treat the coffee as an afterthought. Koffie ende Koeck pulls Bocca beans and offers an oat milk latte with speculoos syrup that holds its own against the baking. Come for the vegan afternoon tea; stay because the espresso is actually dialled.”

The cake came first. The coffee keeps you coming back.
There are places where the food is an afterthought and the coffee is the point. Koffie ende Koeck is not one of those places, and that's precisely what makes it interesting.
The bakery counter hits you before anything else. Stacked with entirely plant-based cakes, pastries, and Dutch-inflected baked goods made in-house, it sets the tone immediately: this is a kitchen that has thought seriously about what it puts on the plate. The afternoon tea, bookable in advance and popular enough to sell out, is the headline act for many visitors, but it would be a mistake to treat the coffee as a supporting role.
Bocca Coffee, one of Amsterdam's most respected roasters, supplies the espresso programme here. Bocca has been roasting with a focus on traceability and cup quality since 2004, and their beans translate well in a space like this, approachable enough for a casual afternoon, considered enough to hold up to scrutiny. The milk options are a genuine point of difference: oat, hazelnut, soy, and spelt give regulars real latitude to dial in their drink. The oat milk latte with speculoos syrup is the crowd favourite, and it earns that status, the spiced sweetness works with the espresso rather than drowning it.
The space itself is compact and unhurried. This is not somewhere you open a laptop and settle in for three hours. It's somewhere you sit with a slice of something and take your time with it, a rhythm that feels increasingly rare and, on a slow Thursday afternoon opposite the park, genuinely restorative.
The crowd reflects the neighbourhood: locals who've been coming since the early years, visitors who found it through the vegan food scene, the occasional Westergasfabriek wanderer who followed their nose. The staff carry the institutional knowledge of a place that's been doing this since 2014 without needing to announce it.
If you're in Westerpark and you want serious third-wave extraction in a stripped-back environment, there are other options. If you want Bocca espresso alongside a hazelnut milk latte and a slice of something that happens to be entirely plant-based and genuinely well made, this is the stop.
