✦ The verdict

The pastries are the point, coffee holds its own.

“Sticky Fingers runs entirely on organic produce, and you feel it in the banoffee pie before you feel it in the cup. The espresso is solid and the matcha latte is worth ordering, but this is a bakery that happens to do coffee well, not the other way around. Inside a converted Michelin tyre factory, the pink-tiled room does a lot of heavy lifting.”

Sticky Fingers is a highly photogenic eco-patisserie and hotel cafe where the primary draws are the organic sweets and the famous pink interior. While they serve a capable cup of coffee, the venue's identity is firmly rooted in its bakery offerings and aesthetic appeal rather than being a dedicated specialty coffee destination.

Sticky Fingers, Oud Zuid

The building has a past life, a Michelin tyre factory, now repurposed as part of the Conscious Hotel Group's eco-conscious footprint in Amsterdam. Sticky Fingers occupies the ground floor, and the contrast between industrial bones and the room's pink-tiled interior is immediate and deliberate. It's a space that photographs well, and plenty of people know it.

The coffee programme runs on espresso, with oat and soy as your milk options, no dairy alternatives are an afterthought here, they're the default register for a clientele that skews organic-first. The roaster isn't disclosed on the menu or in available data, which is a gap worth noting if sourcing transparency matters to you. What's consistent across reviews is that the extraction is reliable and the drinks are well-made, not a destination for single-origin filter exploration, but a solid espresso-based menu in a neighbourhood that doesn't always deliver on that.

The matcha latte has its own following, and it earns it, made with the same organic commitment that runs through everything on the menu.

But the pastry case is where Sticky Fingers builds its reputation. Everything is 100% organic, and the range covers vegan and gluten-free with enough genuine options that it doesn't feel like a concession. The banoffee pie and lemon meringue pie come up repeatedly in the conversation around this place, both are made in-house and both are worth the detour if you're anywhere near Vondelpark. The vegan chocolate brownie holds up too.

The crowd is a mix: remote workers who've found that the space stays quieter than its aesthetic suggests, locals from Oud Zuid running their morning routine, and visitors who arrive with a camera intention and leave with an unexpected pastry habit. The energy sits somewhere between café and hotel lobby, unhurried, with enough ambient noise to work through but not enough to make conversation difficult.

This is not the place to come if you're hunting for a rotating filter menu or want to interrogate the barista about processing methods. It's a place where the food and the organic ethos do as much work as the coffee, and where the setting, former industrial space, pink tiles, eco-hotel context, adds a layer that most straight-up coffee bars in this city don't have.
